Engineered Optimization Solutions for Your Cooling Assets

SPX+Logo.jpg

Specific topics covered will include:

  • Wind influence on Air Cooled Condenser performance along with wind mitigation solutions

  • Condenser modification or revamp: upgrading asset technology for economic and environmental reasons

  • Adaptation of dry cooling installations to cap energy costs and to address performance and changing operating conditions

  • When to consider the benefits of dry/wet systems or full wet to dry conversion to reduce mandated water consumption

This informative webinar will be presented by Frédéric Anthone, the Aftermarket Manager at SPX Dry Cooling and Christophe Deleplanque, the Manager of Technology at SPX Dry Cooling.

Below are some of the questions discussed during the webinar:

  • Do you offer performance improvements for wet cooling towers?

  • Are your services only for cooling systems supplied by SPX Dry Cooling?

  • What is the noise (decibel) level at 100 meters?

  • For the wind mitigation solution, does the existing ACC steel support need to be reinforced?

  • Do you have any experience using windshield textures that self-adjust based on wind direction and speed?

  • For a given cooling requirement, what general criteria determine whether an 'A' or 'W' frame design is selected, and what are the relative capital costs and power consumptions?

  • What parameters are needed for the design of a full dry cooling system?

  • How do you maintain the vacuum along the BoxAir ACC? Do you connect it only to the steam distribution duct, or do you also connect the BoxAir ACC to the air evacuation system? Can you share P&IDs or the basic layout?

  • Can you explain how you conduct wind guider installations at existing sites where the ACC is made by other companies? Do you conduct a site survey and collect all related data (wind velocity, temperature, etc.) and then send an offer for engineering studies such as CFD analysis? After the engineering studies show improvements in back pressure, do you send another offer for wind guider application? Do you also guarantee the back pressure improvements after your engineering studies are completed?

  • In the case of a new installation or plant, which is the best option for cooling? (100 MWe, pet coke fuel, CFB steam power; currently a project with wet cooling)
