Emerging Technology Webinar – CO₂ Point Source Capture System Technology

A growing number of countries have committed to net zero emissions by 2050 to meet the commitments outlined in the 2016 Paris Agreement, which calls for limiting global warming to less than 2°C compared to pre-industrial levels. To achieve this goal, the U.S Department of Energy (USDOE) projects the global CO2 emissions will need to fall from about 31.5 Gt in 2020 to 18 Gt in 2030.

In 2021, the USDOE selected CORMETECH Inc. to advance the development of solid honeycomb CO2 adsorbers. Unlike conventional liquid amine-based removal technologies, embedding the sorbents in the pore structure of the honeycomb absorber allows for removal systems that require lower up front capital, a smaller footprint and significantly lower energy costs to deliver an extremely cost effective point source capture system technology.
