CFB Revolution: Pioneering India's Energy Future

Welcome Speech by K&A MD, Ravi Krishnan

Good Morning! My name is Ravi Krishnan from Krishnan & Associates, a global energy industry marketing and branding firm and I would like to extend a very warm welcome to all our delegates, government representatives from the CEA, Ministry of Power, Ministry of Environment, NTPC, Corporate Representatives and members of the Indian Power Industry. Today’s event is titled “Advancements in CFB Technology the Best Solution for India’s Energy Future”

Indian power producers require low cost environmentally clean and reliable baseload power generation technologies that can utilize India’s abundant coal and renewable biomass resources. CFB’s market share has been rapidly growing due to its highly desirable fuel flexibility benefits and low inherent environmental emissions particularly CO2 compared to PC and biomass combustion technologies.

CFB technologies enable Indian Power Producers to use a wide range of indigenous coals, petcoke, biomass, peat, rice husks, lignite, washery rejects, coal slurry, even in variable mix combinations to produce the lowest cost power for the Indian consumer.

Recent advancements in CFB design features low inherent environment compliance cost as it avoids DeNOx and DeSOx flue gas cleaning equipment.

Supercritical and ultra-supercritical boiler equipment has improved the conversion efficiency thus lowering the CO2 emissions and the cost of electricity production.

Long term operating data indicate that clean coal CFB technologies have had fewer forced or planned outages and thus higher reliability than other PC or biomass combustion technologies.

All these features should be very attractive and this is exactly what our experts will be talking about in today’s seminar organized by Sumitomo SHI FW (SFW) and ISGEC, its licensee in India.

Sumitomo Foster Wheeler is a world leader in CFB technology with nearly 500 installations worldwide.
